Spring 2020 Hands-on-Nature
Camouflage: Designs in Nature

Picture
The Hands-on-Nature Program is an In-Class, Hands-On, Volunteer-Lead program.  Hands-on-Nature encourages students to interpret what they learn by asking “Why?” and “How?” and to answer questions by making observations in nature. It also is designed to encourage students to care about nature and to be environmentally responsible.  The program is based on the ELF Program (Environmental Learning for the Future), but at Shelton it has been adapted be run in our school garden, weather permitting.  The Shelton School and Community Garden is intended to be an outdoor classroom.  The Hands-on-Nature Program allows classes to get out into the garden and study various nature topics.  We will be offering 2 sessions for each class, once in September/ October, and again in April/ May.
Each Class will get to participate in Hands-on Nature again this Spring, See below for the Calendar.  It is a 2 hour in-class program where volunteers lead a prepared center; volunteers are asked to arrive 15 minutes before the scheduled start time to get materials ready.  All materials are provided.  Check back in late March for the Spring 2020 outline, which will include a detailed description of the program.  Or, come to the Class Coordinator Training, see below for more information.  Each volunteer stays with their center the whole time, as groups of students rotate through each of the 5 centers, spending about 15 minutes in at each center.

VOLUNTEER INFORMATION & CLASSROOM SIGNUP LINKS
