From principal Brown's deskOctober Count and Attendance
Mark October 5th on your calendar!
The most important action you can take to support school funding is to make sure your child attends school on October 5th. Much of public education funding from the State of Colorado is based on student count, and the official student count day this year is October 5. The “count window” the state observes is September 28 – October 12, and the key student count day is Wednesday, October 5. Please help us ensure all our students are accurately counted by having your child in class that day! If your child must be absent on Oct. 5 due to serious illness, please call our attendance line at 303-982-5686. Attendance during the “count window” will help counteract an absence on October 5, but it’s best to come to school that day. Jeffco Public Schools Offers Adult ESL & ABE Classes

Even though it's only September, the Science & Engineering Fair committee is already at work for this January event!
Shelton is lucky to have lots of science & engineering expertise in our families and community - and students! The S&E fair is organized and run by parents with support from the school, teachers, and volunteers. We welcome your input! Our goal is to increase student participation in the S&E Fair to over 80%. Why? The S&E Fair is a great opportunity for students to investigate a question they're interested in, develop their skills in critical thinking, creativity, and presentation, and interact with scientists and engineers. Students take great pride in showing their completed projects to friends, teachers, judges, and families. However, we realize that behind the scenes, some aspects of the projects and fair can be challenging. We are expanding our Planning Committee to make this a great extracurricular experience for all! We’ll follow up soon on Signup Genius with a list of roles on the S&EF Committee that we would like to fill soon. With subcommittees, the time commitment for each person will be minimal (1-3 hrs/month in Sept-Dec;) We’ll conduct monthly status meetings starting in early October to assure that tasks are completed before the Fair, with group consensus and support. health & wellness committeebicycle colorado training
