Jeffco Library Summer Reading School Competition!
Let's win $800 for Shelton's school library!
Did you know that last summer, Shelton actually did quite well in the Summer Reading Schools Competition at Jeffco Library? We came in at about 13th in the end, but were in the top 6 for most of the summer - and that was without an organized effort! Here's what it'll take to win this year:
1. Make sure you select Shelton as your kid's school when you register them by clicking here.
2. Check the box that says 'OK to email me' on the registration form. You'll get a weekly email over the summer that'll remind you to log your minutes, tell you what schools are in the lead, and highlight cool events and classes you don't want to miss!
3. Check in with fellow Shelton friends over summer break and encourage them to read and log minutes!
4. See more winning tips from a 2017 winner: click here. The school with the highest percentage of finishers (students who read 8 hours or more over the summer) wins $800 for their school library! That's only 10 minutes a day! EASY! You'll also earn awesome prizes along the way and help your kids avoid the 'Summer Slide'. We can DO this guys! Let's show Jeffco what it means to Coyote On!
Backpacks and School Supply Giveaway
From July 21, 2018, from 2-4, New Hope Community Church in Golden is hosting their Fourth Annual Back 2 School Bash!
Last year they gave away 100 free backpacks and school supply kits. The kits are not complete with all the necessary supplies, but it is a decent kit that can get the students started and helps alleviate some of the financial burden.
This year they are planning on at least 200 kits. They have many other fun activities planned for the afternoon as well so mark your calendars! Click here for more info.
Shelton Engraved Brick Garden Fundraiser
Order a personalized engraved brick for our garden! This is a great way to celebrate a student for an achievement such as continuation, recognize a teacher, or show your family’s support for Shelton. Bricks will be installed this summer in a new brick walkway near the entrance of the garden. Orders are due by tomorrow, May 23 and can be placed by clicking here. If you have questions, please contact the Garden Committee by clicking here.
As we wind up the year, the PTSA Board members would like to thank you for your support this year. We are proud of the work we have accomplished over the last two years. This year, we have been able to keep our technology current, fund new books purchased for the library, engaged teachers in after school programs (to continue and expand next year too), purchased aquaponic fish tanks for classrooms for next year (for teachers that choose them), and we aren't done yet! We are able to fund all individual staff requests for things like STEM bins, new rugs, seating options, Chromebooks for the ASD lab, pottery wheels, a science program for the entire school, musical instruments, landscaping improvements and more!
We could not have done any of this without you! Whether your support was through donations or time spent volunteering, we are thankful for our Shelton community. It's been our pleasure to serve our school, community and all of our kids. Have a great summer!
Next years's Reflections Art Program theme will be "HEROES AROUND ME". Let your student start tossing ideas around over the summer and let us know if you have questions about the program. Carla Fisher (firstname.lastname@example.org), Kelly McBride (email@example.com)
